The town of Innisfail, North Queensland

Innisfail is different from every other town in the NQ region. The reason for this is that the other towns were obviously built in the 1850s and 60s, as was the original Innisfail, but then the entire town, apart from the Courthouse and the Catholic Church, was destroyed by a Level 5 cyclone in 1918.

The Courthouse.The Catholic Church

This meant the entire town needed to be rebuilt from scratch, and so, taking advantage of the situation, they cleverly selected Art Deco architects to design the place for them.

The result is lovely. Check this out.
