Fightback!

Hong Kong this week is in Blatant Heroic Mode, being a feisty little terrier and snapping away at Mainland China's ankles. And we all know which side to take, don't we! Go HK! Go HK! Go HK!

What happened is that our HK journalists were up doing various stories about the syringe attacks in Urumqi when they were all gathered up by Mainland China's hideous police - and we know all about them, don't we! - and were severely beaten up. Like seriously, seriously beaten!

Gosh, HK is furious. Everyone here is up in arms and making huge and nobly phrased statements to China about the sacredness of OUR "Freedom of the Press" and how strongly we uphold these values and how we WON'T submit to China's demand for only printing news straight from CCP sources, and ... oh wow! aren't we being amazingly Superhero about it all!

And now we've demanded China apologises! I think it's about ... well, I think it's about forcing China towards articulating its stance on Press Freedoms and ... well, I think it's a hugely important demand that could lead to greater press freedom in China.

Of course, China will just ignore us ... unless the world gets behind us ... so, please, get behind us folks! Together, we just could make a change in China ... and considering how they're clamping down on reportage of things like the highly toxic substances cadre-owned factories are currently put into food, it's so important for the Mainland and the rest of the world too that the CCP finally instigates Freedom of the Press!

So, are you in?
