The Yobbos are Landing!

Yyyayyyy!!! ... guess what's starting to go down in Wan Chai?

Yup, it's beginning. The Yobs are arriving for ...

Simply the Best:
the greatest party on earth!

Yup, we're ready: the Wan Chai bars have stocked mega-kegs of beer, and the Mama-sams have imported almost the entire Patpong crew from Thailand ...

Oooh, I got such a scolding
from this angry Mama-sam
(in blue) for taking this picture,
so I don't dare show the faces.

... and the welcome is out ...

The sign says it all!

... and despite it only being Tuesday and HK7s doesn't begin until Friday, the party has already started ...

Gearing up!

Oh, and like every 7s so far, where I've met so many lovely people, and had so many laughs, already this year I've met such sweethearts, like these two ...

... Proud Yobs!

These are two members of the legendary Adelaide Crows Rugby Team. Naturally, being Aussie Rules players, they aren't playing HK7s, but had matches in the Asia region and so stopped by for a bit of HK7s R&R. It was funny how I met them; I was snapping photos of 'your typical yobbo' and these guys asked "Why did you photograph us from the back?" and I said "It's for my blog. Since the post will be called 'The Yobbos are Landing', I thought it was rude to show faces." and both these lovely blokes said "We are proud to show our faces to illustrate 'your typical yob'!"

Oh, and they say the Adelaide Crows are all dressing up as Incredible Hulks and I'm to keep an eye out for them in The South Stand, which will indeed be done, if we manage to get tickets this year!!! (David, any news yet?)

And if we don't score tickets this year, here's where we'll be for the entire three days:

Watching live-feed in the
Lockhart Road bars!

And here's another 'typical rugby yob!', although he'll be furious if he knows I've done this:

Jason out for Romance!

He isn't really either a Rugby Yob or looking for love, since he's a happily married man who hates rugby, so I'm just being mean. See, Jason is from Canada and desperately hates the 7s, (It's because you whoozer Kanaks can't play! That's the real reason, isn't it, Jason!) so avoids Wan Chai like it's got the plague during the third week of March! However, we won a dinner at Coyote last night and he was really cross about being in the area at this time of year, and so, as we walked down Lockhart Road, I picked exactly the right second to snap him so he looked like ... yayyyy! ... your Typical Bigtime Rugby Yob.

He actually said "Please don't put this on the net" but I couldn't resist.

So, there you go: Wan Chai in the third week of March, and sure, it's early days yet but THE PARTY HAS STARTED!!!

And if you've forgotten why it's so great, here's a reminder:

And:

Go 7s, go 7s, go 7s!!!

Later: P.S. German Michael asks "What is a yob?" so ... Michael, a yob is Australian for what the British call "A Lager Lout". Understand?
