Ooh La La Restaurant. Pui-O Beach. Lantau Island.

Currently, my favourite Hong Kong Restaurant is the little one right on Pui-O Beach, called "Ooh La La."

Colour, huh? This place goes "Oomph!" with it:

It used to be a local seafood restaurant, owned by the local villagers, but they shut it down during the SARS crisis and it is now rented out to "foreign interests":

Oh boy, the view. And it's so isolated, it's like you have your own stretch of private beach:

I'm sure there are far easier ways to get to it, but we always hack our way through here because it's "just across the paddock" from Aussie Christine's place:

Don't know how it is I'm always wearing white when I eat here, but that seems to be what always happens. However, "Oo La La" is wonderfully informal and no one minds you turning up all bedraggled and besplattered.

And the food! Oh boy! Phenomenal. They are currently changing the menu, but I pleaded with them to keep the Baby Spinach Salad which is just the most sublime dish imaginable. Mmmmm!

To get to "Ooh La La", while avoiding the oxen paddock, catch a bus from Mui Wo Village (HK$5.00 and have the right amount because there's no change given) to Ham Tin Village, then get off and walk down the hill along the raised tracks through the swamp, till you see the little village of Pui-O. The restaurant is on the beach right there.

Gorgeous food. Lovely people. Beautiful scenery. Fabulous place to drink Margaritas at sunset. I highly recommend it.
